Sharps Containers

The 4.55 Litre (1.2 U.S. gallon) container

This container is yellow with a red biohazard symbol and is available with four different types of lids: 

1) a snap lid 
2) a gasket lid  [BIO-PKG40]
3) a half-moon red flip-top lid  [BIO-PKG23]
4) an autoclavable lid. An autoclavable version of this container is also available. [BIO-PKG24]
 

1. The snap on lid has no opening in it and no gasket. This lid is used when there is little or no fluid being placed in the container. 

2. The gasket lid is the same as the snap lid except that it has a gasket and would be used where fluid is placed in the container.  [BIO-PKG40]

3. The red 1/2 moon flip top lid 1/2 moon flip top lid 1/2 moon flip top lid is a snap lid with the red 1/2 moon flip top in the middle of it similar to the one described in the 1 liter (0.26 U.S. gallon) container.  [BIO-PKG23]

4. The autoclavable lid is available on the autoclavable container. The autoclavable lid has a 5 cm (2 inch) hole near the edge with a needle removing device next to it and a hinged snap cover over the hole. The autoclavable lid does not have a gasket. The 4.55 liter (1.2 U.S. gallon) autoclavable container is identical to the 4.55 liter (1.2 U.S. gallon) non autoclavable container but is made of a different material.  [BIO-PKG24]
